Sho-Saiko-To (SST), also known as Minor Bupleurum Formula and Xiao Chai Hu Tang in Chinese, is a supplement used to aid in liver function based upon Kampo, the Japanese adaptation of traditional Chinese medicine. It is comprised of 7 herbal ingredients (Bupleurum Root, Pinellia Tuber, Scutellaria Root, Ginseng, Jujube, Licorice, and Ginger) that work synergistically to aid in liver health. SST is currently undergoing clinical trial at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York and the Liver Center at University of California San Diego.

PHARMACOKINETICSDue to the complexity of this formula, only limited data is available. One study indicates that the serum concentration of glycyrrhizin after a normal daily dose is 1.2 mcg/ml.
